Going to La Ventana for 10 days and need to rent a car in Cabo....anyone know of some cheap deals....or is it better to just take the bus and find someone with a van at the campsite to lock our stuff in?
Thanks

I think it might be best to take the bus from Los Cabos to LaPaz. Better yet is to fly to LaPaz. From there you can easily rent a car if you have to to get to Ventana but you won't really need one once you are there. If you can get to the highway 286 junction (road that leads to Ventana) there is fairly steady stream of boardheads going to and from LaPaz shopping. If you have friends in LaVentana they might arrange picking you up there at the Soriana's Supermarket Mall at that same corner or even at the bus stop.
Last year there was a daily small van bus service to and from Ventana to LaPaz as well.
As far as security for your stuff a lot of people get by just fine with a tent.
In the Ventana Campsite notices are posted for shared rides back to airport, others have pre-arranged for friends to pick them up at the Los Cabos airport. Perhaps if you post your flight date some one else might be flying in on that same date. Keep posting here and you might get a ride.

Los Barilles could be a better option for those not wanting to go through the effort of finding and making thier way to LaVentana. A one hour cab ride from the Los Cabos airport is probably $100 USD. The bus stop is on the highway just a kilometer from the beach. Tent camping in Verdugo's RV has very clean facilities with lots of hotwater for showers (a Baja luxury). Very good restaurants and groceries just outside the RV park. Other options range from the Vela Windsurf resort or roughing it out at North Beach.
The wind at Barilles is lighter on some the thermal days but is full on with the "El Norte". A few days of "El Norte" brings a much bigger swell than Ventana which is in the lee shadow of Cerolvo Island.
