Hi
I'm going down to OR sometime in the last 2 weeks of July. I will be kiting in the ocean, but my wife will need a more mellow(preferably non-ocean place to windsurf. Apart from Florace lake(Far, far south) does anyone know of a place, or places with proximity that would put a smile on both our faces.
Thanks
Gareth

If She is not worried about Whities, I've seen people ripping in the flat water in the Siuslaw River at Florence. Waves on one side; flat water blasting/jybying around shark fins on the other.

Not too sure about the sharks part. Are they a serious threat, or just harmless?

Not sure how much of a threat they really are. Surfing in the river mouth is probably a little more risky. I've seen lots of people longboard there, and if I wasn't so wasted from day after day of Florence hate I think I would have gone in too. I would say don't worry about the sharks. I don't know of any windsurfer attacks on the Oregon Coast. I have heard that most of the surfer attacks happen in the fall when the Salmon are running. Check it out. You can almost see the set up if you check out the Florence Web Cam. Howver, the river sailing is a bit further up the river, so you will not see anyone sailing on the webcam. If you look really closely you will probably see BWD Crickmer and Morewind throwing hate Just to the left of the Jetty.

Astoria South Jetty is HUGE for kiting. Apparently near the jetty it's mellow and flat. A kiter in the gorge told us that there were about 100 kiters out one day last week. Suggests good kiting, but crowded
nearby camping in Fort Stevens park.
