The latest I've been is September and Florence was still good. It was still NW though. I would check out these two newsgroups for more info on Oregon winter sailing. I think there are a few people that sail the coast in the winter:

southerlies are rarely sailed on the OR coast. Floras Lake is OK but really squally and gusty. The odd dude sails Paradise Point in Port Orford but for the most part it is not done.

I know the locals around pistol river get lots of southerly days in the winter. Water temps usually about 10 F warmer after a day of southerly as opposed to northerly winds as the upwelling reverses.

OK, I don't know about the kiters. If you've ever been down on the coast for a good southerly the sea gets really messed up and crappy in terms of ridable waves. THe kiters might have a better time since they get out in a touch less wind then the windsurfers, but i've spent alot of time down there in the last 5 years and know the locals quite well and have NEVER heard someone talk about how good the southerlies were over the winter.

a good reference for the coast reiterates what MikeC says ...Oregon_Coast_Wavesailing_Guide.pdf

"What to look for in a forecast. NOAA offers fair to good forecasts. Also the MM5 forecast models can be pretty reliable. You want North or Northwest winds. Most of us agree that south winds are not very sailable."

Thanks,
Yeah I have sailed Oregon i summer on NW, but looking at the windmodels it looks a little bit tempting to try it out on SW. Thanks for the replies.
