Hi brothers and sisters

I am planing a trip to Mexico for a month or so this winter. Does anyone have a good place to go where the wind is good in Feb, March? Cheap places to stay would be helpful on a smaller budget and any info on if you can rent boards and gear down there.

Plus After there years of working on this sport with a seat harness, I am thinking about going to a waist harness. Like most people use. Any idea's?????

Thanks Alan

Upwind Al, Where have you been all summer?

I switched to a waist back in May, the biggest difference I think you will find is that you need to actually think about weighting the harness to get the same level of mast-foot pressure, with the seat harness it happens more naturally. Once you have that figured out, you'll be rocking. I find it is easier to hook in, and allows you more movement in your hips, especially helpful if someone is blasting tunes on the beach. Major downside is that it can tend to ride up your waist and applies pressure on your lower rib cage, I reccomend fattening up to solve both issues. A waist harness may also leave an unsightly tan line behind if you are cruising around in warm water bareskinned. They have the added benefit that 9 out of 10 bikini clad babes say a waist harness is 3-4 times more stylish than a seat harness, can't argue science. So buy a waist harness and leave the diaper behind.

nice work dishing out the advice like a veteran there wise grasshopper.
good rule of thumb is if your pecs or moobs are bigger than your waist, the harness will stay put. if you're more of a pear shape then it will be up in your armpits faster than Old Spice.

for mexico, read up on options surrounding la ventana. the downside is you might only meet other vancouver islanders!

:(

My grasshoppa advice did come with the disclaimer of myself only switching in may, thereby indicating it comes from a similiar level of ignorance and experience that Upwind Al will experience should he ditch the diaper, thus possibly making it more valuable than true vet advice?

One a side note, I have my date with surgery at the beginning of November, so I'd be down for La Ventana in March!

Thanks Guys.

Tony are you getting knee surgery? Thanks for the info on the waist harness. I will pick one up and try it. I have been getting out to Nitinat Lake and will do one one trip soon. What is your email address.

Windsurfish was selling one for $30 if I recall correctly. Check to see if it is still available. Personally I prefer the DaKine XT http://shop.gorgeperformance.com/browse ... rness.HTML but I got a finicky back.

No offence to Chris, but I think he has a bit more girth to him than Upwind.

Al - Shoulder surgery, though maybe toe and knee surgery would be more fitting? The Nitinat season is over for me, soccer has begun. But local days and the odd up island storm will be primo delish!
