As some of you may know I blew out my knee last summer at Kook St. I was back and kiting and playing hockey within a couple months but its never going to be the same and to prevent further problems I want to buy a quality knee brace so I can continue to kite into my old age!

I have a custom Donjoy that runs for $1800. My benefits covered the brace so check with your company. Although I would get a CTI next time. They have stronger velcro for watersports plus it seems to be the choice with wakeboard and kite pros. I'm sure the cheaper ones would work fine. Even neoprene braces with a wetsuit stiffen the joints up for me which help. Listen to your knees bra. They take years to come right

Fit is key - maybe not so much if it is over a wetsuit, but if you are on bare skin it will be a pain if it rubs / chafes etc. I had a custom expensive one made (paid for by a plan), and it was great. Luckily those days are behind me. The one you have there looks good, but it is all about fit.

I use Generation II, ordered from hq in Richmond and island orthotics 1812 Cook Street....they were....$800? 10 yrs ago? and meticulously fitted (casted) , come with water sports package fitted over wetsuit which includes additional Velcro and reverse straps so keep from coming undone.
mine were both unloader and stabilizer to save the medial collateral and meniscus, Stabilizer for the ACL
They have to be refitted every once in a while and you should get one where the steel can be exchanged (at the hinge), anything will rot in the ocean. Plastic Velcro combo is a must, I know that yours has "stainless hooks/loops "
