Please help keep our access to the Dallas Road waterfront. Over the past several years camping has become a fixture at the beach parking areas and Mayor Lisa Helps is positioning it as 'homelessness issue' and looking for hand outs from the Federal Government to help clean up the mess. As a result, the City of Victoria is choosing not to enforce 'no overnight sleeping' bylaws. Last summer, the 'homelessness' issue swelled from about 15 RVs a night in the parking in front of our house (Big Wave Dave cam) to 28 on the Labour Day long weekend. Garbage, urine bottles/ puddles and even free-range or bagged feces are routinely being left behind for the city and other park users to step in or clean up. When approached last summer, Bylaws enforcement stated (via email) that the issues are related to the wind and water community parking RVs for nights on end. While I understand that Victoria does have affordability/ housing issues leveraging our waterfront park should not be part of the politics.
