Onshore flow will bring small craft westerlies through the Central and Eastern Entrance of the Strait through tonight, with winds easing by early Wednesday morning. Surface high pressure will begin to build offshore expanding through our coastal waters at the end of the week and into the weekend with benign marine conditions expected. The next frontal system then looks to move into the area waters on Sunday. Combined seas generally around 7 to 9 feet through Wednesday. Seas will noticeably decrease to around 3 to 5 feet through the end of the week and into the weekend. Seas then increase again towards 10- 13 ft on Sunday as the next system moves into the region. As per the latest update, the technician responsible for the Ballenas station is on leave. Trying to work on a solution to charge the station if coast guard unable to do so. The estimated time to get station back online is by end of April.

The Ballenas weather station has been defunct for almost four months and is key for nautical safety in our strait.  Can someone please repair?  I was told by DFO it belongs to coastguard. Coastguard tells me it's Environments.

    • That’s fantastic Ray!!  I was just thinking how all 3 local cams have been lost as well as Ballenas WX, hopefully the latter will be fixed soon

  • How about everyone that was lucky enough to get out on/over the water today, logs their session..?? If 10 people post their session today, I’ll donate $100 to BWD tomorrow.
