Sat at Willows and Cattle Pt for an hour waiting for wind....didn't really happen so headed to IV. Arrived to Rupp-Dogg foiling with a 5.0m, GregCan launching with a 6.0m. I figured I'd check how much wind there was so pulled out the anamometer. 10-12kts. Okay, rigged the 6.0m and headed out and was foiling immediately. Wind had picked up to 12-18kts so I came in after 20 mins and rigged the 4.5m, very good choice! So this foiling without a GPS on my wrist is weird!?! My watch gave up the ghost after my last session, so I sent it back to Polar and they said 'they would look at it and either fix it or replace it' and it would take 6-8 from when they receive it which purolator said would be within 7 days. Soooooo, no watch for possibly 9 week. YIKES!! Okay, BANG! it's Black Friday so I ordered a new one, that was I will have a backup next time something like this happens. Anyways, Asked Rupp-Dogg and GregCan how long we foiled for, 1 hour (give or take) So I figure I travelled 20-25kms, not sure how to log that though. Anyways, it was a great session, more than enough wind and lots of waves to play on (I'm trying to get better working the waves/swell) although my first love is flat water. There were some breaking waves on the outside in the current which was pretty fun to play on. It was fairly cold, I had on the palmless mitts to begin with but then changed to the NRS Toaster Mitts when I came in and rigged down to the 4.5m and that was also the right choice. With the palmless mitts my fingers were quite cold butt with the NRS Toaster mitts my hands were warm the whole session. I will be using these NRS mitts from now on and if you want warm hands these are the ticket! I can't say enough about these mitts. Magic!! Okay, so pretty great surprise session today although heard the horrible news about 'Snarfer'. I've known the nickname for years and years but only just met 'Snarfer' in person for the first time this year at RB. Such a positive dood! Always friendly and smiling on the beach and the water. I hope wherever you are currently, possibly watching up foiling, you are still smiling and just as happy. I will miss your positivity but will remember your beach smile and great vibe for as long as possible. You Da Man Snarfer!!
