Pretty much all year for those who live directly in the corridor to catch the good days. Easterly during the winter are more probable, very high winds, and very cold, at sites closer to Portland, but note that the wind and current is in the same direction...check out the ' gorge is my gym ' for Hood River region forecasts of all kinds.
Or, go to the coast in winter with the water temperatures being warmer then as compared to summer, or up a mountain for rides on the frozen water stuff, or the Willamette Valley bike trails that have strategically placed wineries, or just drive to Walla Walla to get access to some really good wines...

I am now an impostor for this Username.
Arlington in February was the coldest sailing I've ever done, the water gets cold in a way the ocean here doesn't. At least it was a westerly, winter east winds there can be absolutely brutal.AJSpencer wrote:Oh ya, probably gets pretty cold. Good thing I'm Canadian.
It was also a 3.7 day which might have had something to do with it too.
I'd live there in an instant if I could.

AJ if you are lucky enough to end up in Portland make sure you make some trips out to the coast and down south!AJSpencer wrote:You Gorge experienced guys -- there's a possibility I may at least temporarily live in Portland OR, which I would obviously position myself as close to the Columbia River as possible.
