I have been away for a while. I had a terrific holiday with my family in Montreal. Great first session, brought the Mako and the surfboard to the beach, but the wind was not that strong initially, used the Mako. Good session, getting more and more comfortable with tow side riding. Went in because the wind started to soften just a bit.

Best session while cruising to date. Started the day in light air with some beach chills and taking the 3-1/2 year old sailing in the sailing dinghy, he was driving and trimming by the end of it! Breeze built around 2 and I set up the 2100sq foil on the beach which was quickly too much, changed to the 1300sq in the dinghy behind the boat and had a great session. Nice partial cloudy day at the Gorge. Gusty wind that built up from launch at 11am. Way overpowered in the down wind leg after riding upwind to the hatch and having the place to myself at noon. Wish I would have rigged down after the first 1.5 hrs.

1 year of winging anniversary today! Had to be off the water by 2pm so I took the early shift and was the only one on the water until Grant joined towards the end of my session. Things started out a bit sloggy but improved after 45 min when the wind picked up ~5 knots and I had plenty of power with my 7m. The slogging was ok because it forced me to continue to work on my pumping technique, especially the foot component which I'm still not consistently dialling in. Second day at the lake. Woke up to a breeze after rain yesterday so had breakfast and hit it. Light but fun on the 60L and 1201. Crazy low end capable just gliding downwind and ripping back up. The new 5.5 feels great as well. Hopefully some more in the days to come. Nice to enjoy it with the kids playing on the beach.

Glad I made it to the Hatchery just in time to sail with Chris. First time at the Hatchery, fun spot, must be epic on a windy day. Morning session was fun but I was a little under powered with the 3.5 wing and the 775 Razor Pro, at only 631cm2 it needs a little juice. After waking up from my nap I was surprised how busy it was. Took the 5m out and that was definitely better. Seemed totally hectic out there though, with wingers, windsurfers, windfoilers, DW SUP foilers and efoilers, I was missing the coast. ... (more)

Took the straps off and put the shorter mast on with the 880. Holy sh*t this set up feels good. It's hard to believe the turns (or at least the FEEL of the turns) that are possible on the 880 and a shorter mast. A little flick of yaw before banking over and she rips right around. Tip was out a bunch and no drama. Felt quick too despite not being technically a fast foil. Pumps great and teaches you as you go with great response/feedback. Cannot wait to surf foil with it! Rainy all day today. No wind until 5:00pm at 5-7kts. Then just before 6pm it picked up to 8-10kts and I had to try, on the foil almost right away in a gust. Then hit a hole on the gybe, then did not come off the foil for almost an hour in wet, squally conditions, but better than nothing. There was a lot of pumping going on out of the jibes but it worked. Another good day at the hatch. Swell was best at the end. Kept thinking ok that's enough but the conditions kept improving. Morning session with rblocal, Wingdoc and Tsawassen. Afternoon with Tsawassen.

Arrived at CC at 230 and nil wind. I set up my campsite and by the time 4pm came up, the wind did as well. Bobson was already rippin' big knots and kms far up wind on his windfoil. Got a couple of chases and crossings for lots of whoopin' Waters were much choppier than I thought they would be, so I shelved the plan to learn duck jibes and tacks. Although it's a tidal inlet, there was way more fresh than salt water. It was a nice intro to CC and chasing the wind gusts was much fun!

Light winds today. Hung out at Rufus until almost noon, then headed into hood river to restock. Hood river bridge is closed until further notice. Had to go to Cascade Locks to crossover to the Hatchery. Nice drive for a sweet zen session with zero crowds. Worked on wing combos until the wing worked me. Wingdoc out doing speed runs on his 880.

Warm all day without any good wind. Outflow started at Noon. It turned at 3:00pm and I was on the water at 3:30pm in 12-14kts. By 4pm it was 15+ and all of a sudden there was what looked like a drunken monkey out there with me, foiling every which way but straight. So I gave him a wide berth and three or it's at him to see if he was hungry. He wasn't. Got a very good 2 hours and 20 minutes and 60kms. Used the Elevation Kite and Wing Center NEO SLS 12m. The wind was a bit strong for the 13m, and I was concerned that the wind would die and my 10m would not be big enough to get me home.
Good session, the 12m was a good pick. I think I would have been OK with the 10m. Used the twin tip to get my confidence back, did lots of toe side riding. Getting better at it, able to doe some nice carving jibs.
