Hip. Decided to head over to the island one day early. Highway was shut down in the aftermath of a midnight head-on accident. After being parked on the highway for a couple of hours made it to the ferry terminal and my 6:30 am sailing had turned into a 8:00 am sailing. I was very thankful that they delayed the departure to wait for the people trapped on the highway.

What an amazing session. Raced out to catch the waves of a fully loaded double decker whale watching cat going outbound at full throttle. HUGE clean waves! Biggest, fastest waves I've caught. One of my biggest wipeouts too. '? AND my first 360.

Wow, first time winging at The Rock. Kind of intense, I wasn't used to the side on shore wind when flagging out, the wing does some unexpected shit. Still had a blast once I got used to it, and caught a few nice sized bombs. Down side was I launched below the rock and had a hard time getting out, with the low tide I kept hitting the sandbar in the impact zone and got pushed back. Been a while since I've ridden the ArtPro1001. Took a few runs to get the feel of it again. So much easier to crank a tight turn than the 1099 glider. Tried a few tacks with no success. Fun waves. Nice to be on the 3.5. DW board helped in the lulls.

Back to the east. Checked the wall then moved to Rufus for the camping plan. Sailed up to the wall for the best swell for an hour with rblocal and Wingdoc. Afternoon rest of hen back out for a dinner burn. Swells and more swells. Worked on some new backwind stuff but wiping out hard slowed me down. Wrapped up with chicken stir fry and apricots for dessert! Beauty day!

Caught the apres work shift at 4pm, it was quite light as I rigged up the 5.5m, got a 15 minutes in and it had ramped up considerably. Went down to the 4m and it already had backed off but made it work for about 15 min, then went back to the 5.5 for the remainder of the session. Did not pack my 5.0 as I was determined to use my crispy 4.0 replacement wing (that arrived in the morning). Solid power and the handles feel great, also flags out and depowers nicely. Tried a few heal side tacks. Good crew out! Next time need to join Tuna @ RBP for beer and burgers' tasty!

Conditions were good, I was not. First day back after being stabbed in the ribs with the foil. Still hurts and I do not recommend. First day on the 48L and it's going to take more than 15kts on a 3.5 to get it going. The DW board would have been a better choice :0

Yeterday's poor winds were washed away by the excellence of RB today. First session was with my small 6m and was a good choice once I was foiling at CLover and beyond. Winds reduced a bit for the second session, so I went with my bigger 6m. Winds strengthened and I was often OP'd. Great to be out with MtnarG, Idefix, The Pope, RobC, GregCan, GregCam, and others. Just missed Jon, John, Ali, and Paul. So lucky to have the RB playground in our own backyard. Stoked for China Creek Friday!

Perfect 5.0 wind, just a few holes and those almost all near shore. Foiled through my first jibe but fell after a few seconds of toe side. Outside working way better than inside, went toe side for a few seconds or at least was around and jibed the wing. But even the inside ones were closer. Had some really nice flagged out runs, some fast runs down quartering waves going shoreward, and got taken down instantly by a chunk of submerged kelp. Not much when I arrived around 2pm. Hung out talked gear with some RBFC members for 45 mins. Rupp Dog and BWD showed up and it turned on right away. Amazed at what I can get out of the Omen 1050 with only a 5m. Lot's of zero wind involving swims but who cares. Looked like it was really picking up as I started packing it in. After a week of finicky winds at RB it was so nice to get a solid day! 26 km -- a new record for me. Worked on gybes with minor improvements. Got Tunacan'd a few times and had some fun passes with Gdawg, RupDogg, GregCan and Highrocker. Lots of stoke on the beach, and great to see and talk to lots of people I haven't seen for a while.

Well, ate my lunch and all of a sudden there was wind' So I put my big boy pants on and pumped up my 5.0m KT Direct Drive with its new bladder and grabbed the KT Wing Drifter 130 and headed out. Flat water and 15kts was almost perfect. Even though I fell in more in the next hour and 15 mins than I have in the past year of Windfoiling, it was worth it. It was blowing all morning, very gusty. I decided I couldn't wait any longer and headed out on the Windfoil as not enough for Winging. Enjoyed 2 hours of gusty, cold condition. Drizzled the whole time. After 50kms, I pulled the plug as it was getting lighter so came in for lunch'.to be continued'..

Hatchery is freaking amazing for learning DW SUP foiling! Had my best and longest rides, but balancing on the 110L is tricky with all of the water moving around! A 120L might be a better choice. Such a grind to learn but once you're up and foiling so worthwhile. Knackered at the end.

I met another hopeful soul, RDog, parked at the Mayor's spot, both of us hoping for the forecast to come true. There was a bit of build up, so we both jumped in to give it a shot. We got a few lifts, but the juice just wasn't worth the squeeze. So much pumping to get up and stay up, even with my big 2000sqcm foil. Eventually it all died off and luckily I was closer to the beach. RDog followed me in a few minutes later. Hoping on Thursday's forecast. Thanks for sharing the slog, RDog!

Raining this morning so spent the day in Parksville with my daughter, returned at 4:30pm to what looked like 10-13kts so pulled out the 7.0m Sailworks Flyer and headed out. On the foil right away so have a HUGE WOOHOO!! First 5 mins was good but then wind increased to 12 gusting 20 so had to hang on to the gigantic power sail and had an amazing 2 hour workout. Up at dawn - ok 6. Coffee then back to the hatch. First session in the morning was 2m. Looking downwind you could see clouds of spray being lifted off the surface by the event site. Later session on 3.5. Swells were big and smooth in spots. Reminded me of clover se conditions but 20 degrees warmer! Wingdoc downwind paddling in the morning - getting some long rides! Rblocal can't believe his good fortune to find Hood River.

Little hope for wind today. Hot and sticky weather. Tacos in eve followed by a hail Mary drive to the Hatchery which delivered our evening moment of Zen in nice wind that continued to build.
