We had given up on wind. Walking to dinner, Wingdoc spotted a single white cap at the event site far in the distance. We ate tacos and headed to the hatch. Light but zenful end to a sticky hot day!

Light green forecast on Model2, only 14 kts at Entrance Island, sunny and 22 DegC. I took the bait!
10:30 Silver Seas! I joined Scott and Miker on the early shift. Nicely powered on the 5.0/1000cm for the first half. Two footers at the point, better swell lines north of the Hudsons. Second shift with Juan and Luz. A bit light for the 5m but still manageable.
Well worth the trip :))

Outflow all morning so all Wingers here went to Pipers, I waited it out and inflow started at 2:45pm at 10-12kts so I jumped on it after my perseverance paid off! Started out on the 7.0m Sailworks Flyer A.K.A. 'The session saver'. Flew around for an hour then it picked up to 15+ so I rigged down to the 5.2m Sailworks Flyer. Day 2 of the big swell was even bigger and uncharacteristic of The Cape, the wind was really light. Jesse and Tony got out early and scored some nice clean sets. I waited for the wind to build, which never happened, and ended up getting a beat down. Rigged 4.7, which wasn't enough and got pounded in the impact zone. More struggle-bus action! Started on the big APF first but feels too far forward and I only had a few short runs on it need to move it much further back. Paddle ups are coming. Lots going on to manage, especially balancing on a rolling log with a paddle. Later switched to 1080 and got one excellent 800m ride before I lost the swell. Consider these sessions mini victories as the pain is just outweighed by the stoke of riding open river on just a SUPfoil. Mark and Ryan shredded the 'dings.

I was going to head to Esq Lagoon, but thanks to a head's up from ULR, I switched to RB and got some foil lovin for about an hour. Doc Mark was already in and doing his usual awesomeness. It was very warm and I was tempted to just go shortie suit. I needed to test out my 6m after repairs. Passed the test but was way OP'd. Switched to my Naish 5m and was pleasantly surprised at the performance of my first wing ever. Matt and others joined in at mid-sesh, but the winds reduced. Thanks for the bevy, John!

It's Wing-Time!! Finished my 2 hour morning Windfoil session, had lunch and pumped up the 6.2m as it looked like 12-15kts. It was, took foot straps off and put on the 1100cm2 front foil and 255 stab with the shorter 95cm fuse and longer 95cm mast. Had a great first 90 mins of foiling but then wind got light and only managed a couple of foiling runs in the 2nd 90mins so lots of schlogging to finish the day off. Light wind all morning so got on the Windfoil at Noon and headed up the inlet until the wind got light and puffy after an hour so turned around and cruised back down and wind got stronger. Fun dodging the fish boats and riding through all the wakes. Felt like there was enough wind to go Winging so came back in and had lunch and pumped up the 6.2m Ensis.

In town for 4 days. Quickie retreat from local chores. Missed the Club Race to Dundarave and back. About 8 boats were out. Leaders back in 2 hours.
Mix of Cloud fronts and Convective cells made Lions Gate Vancouver look like New York SailGP conditions. Great to sail in just boardshorts. Sail to small but it all works. No WAZP's were out but lots of regatta activity accross the bay. They likely were away or chasing wind.

It was light, I barely got going on the Ross Bay side and made a sprint to Cook St. Unfortunately the wind shut off about 30mins into the session and luckily the Cloud Kite stayed in the air and I was able to body drag back to shore. Note to self, anything less then 14 kts it is better to use the larger PFI 633 Foil.

Great summery conditions with very fickle winds. Early session was pretty good, but inconsistent. Lots of holes to pump through both in and out of the bay. Fun sharing the mild swells with Idefix, Poper, DocMark, ULR, Tuna, JohnL, Gus, and many others. A few of my runs were slalom heavy as I tried to miss the loose kelp. Late session was very light and didn't last long. The morning's MTB session started to catch up with me so I went home to supper and nap. Fun!

Three days of fickle winds at Ross Bay -- I went into this session with low expectations but was stoked to get way more foiling than I thought I would! Some good passes with Gus, Highrocker, ULR, and some of the kiters. Good summertime vibe on the beach.

Milestone day for me today. After 3 seasons and 72 sessions (I added up my personal stats) I foiled through a gybe today. Outside, got comfortable speed on a broad reach, started toe pressure and made sure I stayed balanced as I switched hands. Enough wind to keep foiling toe side for about 15 or 20 seconds then a lull and came off foil and jumped my feet around before foiling back to the beach. First dry out and back for forever. Unclear conditions but worth going out. Ended up getting stranded twice but I also enjoyed two solid full foil sessions where conditions picked up and I was able to push my limits on grabbing onto any puff I could find to turn into my next tack. Good learning session. The paddle back to shore...it's a workout.

Pretty variable wind. Out on the 8m and foil to start but it died after about 30min. Pumped up a 10m and the wind came back. After 30 min or so it was almost too strong so went and grabbed a twin tip but it dropped off again so called it.

Caught the 3 to 4 shift. Forgot to turn on gps until halfway thru. Broke out the superlight wind gear, trusty old PNG1150, biggest stab 425, and the 128 Indiana board. Never creases to amaze me in how light a wind I can fly, and how slow I can keep flying on the 1150. Was even able to catch some runs flagged out on teeny slow slow bumps.

Woke up at 8am to wind. Got up, had coffee and egg breaky sangy and rigged up. On the water at 11am and it was up and down all day. No one on the water when I was so had the place to myself, Crazy!! 1 kiter on a 14.5m named Brad went out for 30 mins when I stopped for lunch. Got to wheel the Alpha 240 down Peters Lane with my kayak trolley and launch out at the head of the Bay. Fun cruising for about an hour racing sailboats over to Patty's milestone and back. Wind jacked up nicely and was able to get the large barge planing a bunch. Special session in the back yard paradise.
