    Just one more!

Early start for a Pipers classic. Started light and very west. Tug Boat out first making it work on a 5m. Rigged the old Cab 6.2 for a few reaches. Dressed down to 4m late morning on a reasonable NW and nicely organized swell lines. I was gonna call it after a good 3hrs but it ramped up again, so back on 5m to finish the marathon with Bart and Sam.

Tugboat- your helmet is safe with me ; )

Took one for the crew and volunteered to be the first to head out on a windless beach and do a long swim to get out past the point. More westerly breeze meant the wind was having a hard time forming near to shore. Dan and Brian soon followed. Things went from just breezy to gusty with big, well-formed sets out above the islands. Oh yeah, I could be the first rider to put a KT Dragonfly Ginxu 2 right through the sheet of a KT 5m wing while tipping off a wave. Long swim back'lol.

Bit over 3 weeks since my ribs were injured. Have had a few good gym sessions, mobility feeling good, strength feeling good, but still super tender in one spot. Put new impact vest on for first time and went out for a quick trial. Felt ok, but not quite ready for longer session. Vest is nice and adds considerable warmth! Will let more healing happen before getting back out again. Didn't like the feeling of being a "glass egg". Tons of weed and debris anyway. Nice to get wet.

It was windy at 10AM and there was a fog bank all day. It did not exactly nuke but it was good wind. I started out on the 14.5 and stayed on it for my whole session mostly because I am lazy but I could have gone down to a 12m. There were some skinny young things on smaller kites which makes me think about why I can handle a big kite without feeling over powered :-/. First RB session in a loooooong time. The forecasted winds looked like they weren't coming through but I headed down to RB anyhow when it looked on the cam like there was a bit of wind line approaching. As I biked down Memorial I was stoked to see whitecaps and decent winds! I launched with Rob and Rupert, and the wind stayed for close to 40 min. Windoc, Gus and a few others soon joined. I avoided the kelp for the first 40 min, but for the last 20 min I felt like I was being attacked. Came in when the ... (more)

Is this the last dash to the Nat? Weather setup is perfect for the weekend and as we arrived around noon on Saturday the wind was beginning to build and come down the lake. Very nice day at the lake. It was warm and the wind was soft near the shore but my 14.5 Flite and Tiki board were perfect for the wind on offer. It was quite flat and the water was warm, Tiki conditions indeed. I spent an hour and a half on the Tiki just cruising and trying my tack turns, it was sunny and beautiful. Duotone E_pace 6.2m
First time hittin the goon. Showed up at 7 and rigged 6.2 on the 120, unsure about this windshadow, but quickly went to the 115 once I was confident enough that it wasn't as much of a problem as i thought it would be. Some real swell out there! Had to take off for work around the time the wind really picked up or I could have been there all day. Stellar spot!

Paddled out to the lone piling windward of the ship dock at 1pm in light end of season wind. After 1/2 hr of this strategic padding, slogged over to the Spit and in to the river where I was up on foil for the next two hours on my 5m. Last day of the Squamish season for me.

    Optimistic or desperate?

I took a chance on a light Model2 and some texture on the webcam. Happy to see caps on arrival with Gusto sailing nicely north of Clark Rock. A few reaches with 5.0/1000cm then back for the 6m.

Another cruisey session in tropical Pipers.

Day 29 at Squamish. Steady SW 18-20 with no chop ... smoothest I've seen all season. Took advantage of the classic Squamish conditions to work on kite loop waterstarts on 8m+surfboard. AltonJr continued to work on her pops and board grabs on 5m+surfboard.

Ok that's not enough breeze for anything

Not much of a test. Gave up after one longer full run of the lake

I have to say the wing feels lovely and light. The board and foil crap not so much. Doubt my back can handle that over time

Well, what a change from yesterday. Today was the best Winging day I can remember. 2.5 hours, 50kms, fell in the water only twice. Water is still warm so it was kind of nice. 2 or 3 Wings, 5 kites, 1 Windfoiler and Me! Today I picked the right sized Wing and the wind was steady and water flat. It didn't come up until 4pm and I sailed till 6:30pm then sat on the upper terrace with SandyB watching W247 and some kid out kiting till the wind died down at 6:30pm. Sitting in the fancy section of the beach with ... (more)

Better late than never. Final day of '24 at Nitnat. S.O. gybing and riding switch. Fun to see her do this. Seemed like an international UBC? crew was out to windsurf Labour Day but it was light for sometime, and overcast. Got out at first ripples with the 110L board/HS1850. Then the S.O. took that board and I went on the 88L. Quick session to feed the need. Then return to reality.
