:D Holy macaroni dudes!!! Launched from Ross Bay at Noonish, wind was crazy....9.8 was a handful but used the 62cm fin so that was Okay. Did about 10-15 short runs out to end of Clover point and back. Fully OP'd most of the time. Front foot in front strap back foot across the board in leeward strap. Mostly survival hanging on stuff. Bad idea to just bring the formula gear down today. Had to leave to ref rugby at 1:30pm fun, fun, fun!!! Saw 'Morewind' rigging the 5.0 and had to laugh! HA! :D

Started mostly slogging, planing in puffs, trying to stay upwind in a big flood. Wind up and down. Some fun powered up straight in to the chop stb tack. Hard to keep board from skying (didn't want to jump the big heavy board). Overpowered, so changed to Seatrend, had one overpowered run, too small a fin for the 5.8, tore the sail somehow. No falls on the big board (except beachstarts!). Still problems with my sail flip.

Had it not been for the other guys already out on the water, I'd likely have passed on this session. COLD HANDS!! Never really tapped into any solid rides or jumps. BWD played his "Heavy Local" card and called me off my wave and claimed it for himself. Never snake one of BWD's waves or he WILL put the beat down on you. Sorry Dave! My waves are your waves!!

Got there early as MM5 called early shut down at 10, started gusty as hell with 6 gusting to 3.5, very tough sailing, mellowed a bit & steadier, got more volume, switched lateron to 4.8 but a bit over as wind came back again. Nice session, hard work, fully pooped so had to quit....unable to lift sail was the cue. One blown harness line, a few nice skies, one unintentional forward oops. Hands falling off, arms 4" longer, seriously drained, almost drowned in hottub.

Solid non-stop 2 hour session. :D Occasional very sweet lineup of swell, then confused other times. The cold sort of held me back from trying any tricks... just a relaxed sail enjoying the swell and getting a few jumps. Felt too bound up in neoprene to try any loops. The palmless mitts kept the hands warm, but no matter how you look at it, gloves suck

I was thinking about going to IV on my way down I stopped by at Willows and saw KUS and another guy were having way to much fun, so I decided to join the party. What a swell party was it! Fully powered 4.5 time to time a little overpowered, some holes here and there but nothing to really complain about. Had a few good jibes, now I better understand how to position myself relatively to the swell, so it all goes nice and smooth.

North section had nice ridable 4 ft swell, flat section on south side. Very ... (more)

Wondered what the hell I was doing driving through Lantzville in a blizzard with 2-3 cm of snow on the ground. Ended up being fun but brief. Sailed 4.2 for 40 minutes or so with a couple of hand warmup breaks. Snow really stings the eyes. Rigged the 5.0 and was feeling pretty warm and fired-up but it died after 15 minutes and Ozzy and I had a nice 10 minute swim in. Some big airs and a couple of nice front-side hits. Wish it had lasted longer.

Well the next best thing to Columbia is Island View. Great 4.0 for two hours or so. Nice swell, the wind turned more onshore later in the morning. Nice shore break too, only got punished 3 or 4 times. Very cold on the hands - they never did warm up. And now as I look out the window its snowing. Brrrrr. Only a few back loop attempts and lazy swell rides today.

Had fun practicing my waterstarts and sailing with water up to my knee's....HA! 99 litres isn't that much when you weigh 220lbs + wet suit and rig. Scotty, we need more power  . A good long day on the water. Nice waves until the ebb kicked in then it got choppy. Good port ramps. A few backloop attempts, Hoss tacks, reg Tacks, 360s, thats about it. 4.5 felt really good until late aft when it kicked up a notch. Nice to have local sailing for a change.

Nice to sail local waters again. Tried lots more forwards. Got a bit cocky and launched a big one off of a large ramp, over rotated an endo, still found myself 7' up and bailed. Got my foot stuck in the strap and tweaked it. Lesson learned: I'm not ready for big forwards yet

Learning lots in over and underpowered loop attempts. Windy in the afternoon!!

Rigged up 4.5 sailed for about 30 min and then it became too strong and gusty. More downhaul didn't help much, got punished on the reef, and spat out :) . Chickened out off forwards again , I need a little saneier conditions. My jumps are coming nicely though, got a couple on a port tack , woo-hoo! On starboard tack just got this nice wooooosh feeling on a take off!

Wind was up & down but still fun. Tide was really low so the typically amazing swell at Columbia was non existant. Glad I took the 9m as it was quite gusty.

day started with Dave and I doing a lot of waffling on whether to head up island on a sketchy forecast. but, the drive was worth it. 8 windsurfers on the water, with lots of people trying new tricks. I learned one new thing today - don't try looping on an upwind takeoff  all the articles say to bear off, a lot - and, they are right :!: wish I had that crash on video. Got a couple of helis, and did a couple of 360s. fun day.

Great wind to start, steady drop, then good on (way) outside; 1st day on Protec, nice carving board but a bit slow, unforgiving, a few loser helitacks, beauty front footed planing duckgybe on new board made it all worthwhile; took out Starboard late to feel speed again; 8)

6-8 very feeble backloop attempts, small tear in sail, gotta stop wreckin' stuff; 100% Vic contingent  , guys on water: Brian, Mike, Andre, BWD, Geoff, Chris, Gareth on his 9M

A good day and a good call to head up. About 8 backloops attempts with only 1 that didn't look like a wounded bird falling out of the sky. 1 vulcan attempt, some Hellies and Hossies. Not much swell but the wind was steady.... Try harder next time!
