Took the big board out because there were lots of holes and wind was flukey. Had 3 great runs powered up, came in briefly, went out again and just slogged. Made first 5 jibes, one fully planing. Heavy rain, 9 or 10 degrees.

 That was one [b:2afe64e551]wild [/b:2afe64e551]ride! Started out a gusty, two-hands-on-the-bar, time the gusts and jump, then dropped down and mellowed out - holes AND gusts, then a nice half-hour of powered up wind. Then back down again. The 'base' wind varied from 14 to 18. Holes were about 12. Gusts [b:2afe64e551]definately [/b:2afe64e551]over 20! Nice to get out this late in the year! :P

Wilkommen Oktobreschloggfest! Got teased out, but needed bigger gear to plane. Pumped to plane a few times, but sank back as soon as I hooked in. 24k top speed, 8 km on odometer. Made 1 of 4 tack attempts, and most slog gybes. Too dreary to try helitacks.

:( Got lofted on the beach with the 12 so quickly depowered the kite onto the barnacles and went home  . Thanks Dave B for launching me

It was gusty crap for the kite and my mistake shoulda used the 9 but ....

Still thinking about getting a windsurfer and 2 sails only for nuclear days. Will put a few more hours on the 9m first. If Columbia is typically quite gusty above 20 knots I cant see having a blast kiting in those winds, let alone impaired safety.

Could have been August. Wind started shortly after 11:00, strong before noon! Some fog on the coast made it windier than Saturday, and not quite as smooth (though damn good wind). Sandra came up with Nicole for a day trip, so went way upwind with her and kited 'Hornet Bay' with her. Pockets of lift, practiced backrolls. Had one double forward spin. Said 'au revoir' to Nitinaht for the year, and noted that I didn't lose my board or crash my kite in my last four days on the water up there. Must push myself ne ... (more)

Fantastic "last" day at Nitinat. Fully powered on the 5.8 for 2 hours. Made a few vulcans (most I've completed in a session) and a couple of duck tacks. Amazing what a few weeks off the water and a bit of visualising does for the sailing. Fun to sail with Bobson and John again. Nice fogbank!

Wind came up at 2:30, after some nice sunbathing. Sweating it was so hot, absolutely fantastic weather - 25 in Port Alberni! (got skunked on Friday though). On the water with Grant, Kendra and 13 other kiters, once again the smoothest wind imaginable. San had to stay home.

Epic day at the SS  . Glass on the inside sand flats, swell on the outside, play in the mini surf between the two, you choose. Doesn't get any better than today! Tried aerial transitions for the first time.

Yesterday was on the 17m trying a new pulley bar - works great. Love riding in the fixed loop its so relaxing on the arms.

Spent most of my time in the inside as I was powered up on the 5.8, and I am still learning. Was coming in as the wind dropped to 18kn and met Menno who was going out so I rigged the 6.3 and went out again. Menno sailed right over top of a whale that surfaced in front of him. He didn't hit it but it was close. Crazy. Sunny and warm and its almost October, nice.
