Went out early to the far side as I saw some whitecaps. Took awhile to actually get going. Then went as far upwind as I could, much better with the bigger wing but eventually feels too light. Full day on the same gear. On water wing exchange with Tweezer in afternoon. Cabrinha handles very small diameter and easy on the hands. Got to see a real master moving the XPS around in all sorts of different transitions - very impressive. Saw 80 km on the watch, mowed the lawn for 20 km for triple digits, then ... (more)

Did 1 reach reconnaissance on the big board as was getting mix messages on wind. Plenty of wind a fair ways past Clark Rock so went directly in for a smaller board. Was nicely powered for the session on the 6.5 and 110. Did one last reach after Kus used the gear for a few blasts. At that point the wind had picked up and was overpowered. Then packed it in for the day. Need more sailing to rebuild endurance for the winter. Fun day again :)

Great day in the sunshine and warm water. Started on the cumbersome 5.0 with 15knots and small waves. Wind and swell picked up. Switched to 3.5 and all was well in the Piperverse. Crazy to hear of BigWingBart's keel haul adventure. Glad it turned out ok. I rode flagged out beside that big sailboat for a bit and there was a woman keeping watch on the foredeck. I've had a similar recurring thought of leashes getting tangled up at LB with a whale. Time for a knife.

Slow start, but good finish. Early winds didn't happen, but the noon onward session got better. Making progress, even attempting a foil jibe. Glad the keel hauling wasn't fatal, but big boat people seem to be getting quite lax on entering Nanaimo Harbour. Cabin cruiser on auto pilot was a near miss for someone else. Finished with the 120 airbolt an1440 foil'. Nice to see Kus & Jelly today as well.

Keel hauled at Pipers. A long story. A lovely summer day for wing foiling and windsurfing at my favourite place. I started at 10am on my 7m wing and worked down to my 5m by 1pm. Sailed until 2pm. Lot's of company on the water. Wind picked up into the afternoon.
I've windsurfed/wingfoiled at Pipers for 43 years and this was the first time that I have been run over by a boat. I was foiling outside Clark Rock with big tide waves and too large a wing at 6m for the conditions. (others seemed happy with their 4 ... (more)

This was not a 20knot day but Idefix, some other dude and myself made it work over the early morning shift. Good swell at the outer wind line with lot's of holes there and back. Wanted to get back on my Omen board but conditions were just too iffy and the Ginxu gives me the guarantee of flight....love it.

North. Took my time cooking French Toast at the campsite and arrived at South Jetty State Park around noon to find Dan. He said most of the other were headed to Oceanside as there wasn't much wind forecast for Newport today. Thanks for the reminder that Newport is central Oregon and not north Oregon! Silly me. Slight delay while I retrieved my tent then two hour north along the spectacular coast! Another reminder that Oregon is huge! First time to Oceanside and what a treat it is! We got sideshor ... Looked like the wind might be light but first session was on a 3.5 m, and it was enough. Went up the lake with Tweezer but didn't get as far upwind as him and did not want to come off foil with the 3.5. Took a work break then back with the HA1125 and 6.1 m around 5 or 6 pm. I pumped up the wing at my campsite and someone said: "Are you pumping up to go out? The wind is dying and all wingers are coming off the water." Great second session. I can't believe there are bigger XPS wings for light ... (more)

Clean sets. Decided to pop to the north coast to try and take advantage of the two days of wind forecast. Hit so hit Newport first. Arrived to solid wind and the big kids (JP, Dan Thompson and others) launching from the South Jetty State Park proper, but the low tide shore pound was less than inviting. I decided to launch from the south jetty access and sail down to them mid-beach. The waves didn't look like much in the lee of the jetty but once out on the water what a treat! Comparing apples to apples, except they were crap apples'.110/5.3 cuz it seemed doable, tried a couple of times but it sucked. Went back to the foil but even that was too much work. Lotsa lugging heavy gear, blech. Much improved with a fat tug in my fist in the sun. B got out on 14 kite but it was marginal, no way I was trying that yet

Hard knocks. Ethan joined for a afternoon session and it felt like we were swimming up stream ' wind backed by the time we got rigged and ready (7m and 4.5/92 were both on the small side); rats nest of tangled lines; and Ethan hit a log, lost one fin, puncture the surfboard. The good news is we did get a few short rides together and we made it to the Thai food truck to pick-up dinner before it closed!

Solo. Morning session aiming to double up today before the wind shut down in the Gorge. Train blocking the trail crossing cause some delay in getting to water ' good exercise in being present and staying patient. Wind was light at the beach, but cranking out in the channel! Feast and famine sailing (not enough, then too much)! Some decent swell rolling through! Made it all work. Fun in a challenging kind of way!

Got there late just before it clouded over and started to rain. Waited it out for an hour or so. Wind came back but not as strong. Still some fun sized waves left over. Better than nuthin.

Good wind and great swell with a small crowd. Lots of fun. Haven't been on the small board in forevers.

Wind all day was killing me so headed out after work for the late session. Slow decline in wind speed the whole session so hunted gusts and had some fun turns. Short swim home downwind of the sailing club in 0 - 10 knot winds.

Got there to the big rainstorm lull. Waited and chatted and it eventually filled in. I tempted Shaggy out, who arrived just before me and was waiting for rush hour to subside. Could have been on 4 m on outside, but inside the 5 was nice. Did my first dry jibe in a long while - got my feet side by side downwind, dropped to taxi, and finished the turn and took off the other way. Got around on foil a couple of times but am just not turning far enough after downwind and end up falling the outside. Tried narrow ... (more)

What a fantastic foil day at RB! BWD forecast promised decent conditions, but what we got was much better. For me, it was one of the best days at RB with Pipers-like vibes, without the fin crew! Great summery weather, 4m/3m winds, and gorgeous smooth swells. Got some of my fastest and longest flagged out rides. Although it was easier to spot them, I still managed to get taken down by the kelp. Lots of OGs, elites, and others filled the swells in a fun, uncrowded way!

Had a great afternoon on the bay. Sun, swell, windy. 4.0m conditions. Some very nice swell at times, with some big GS turns. A good crowd in attendance.

Great to get some real wind and swell at RB, although I felt a little under powered on the 3.5 half the time.

A rare RB day and I go to Nitinat. Things are still warming up there after lots of rain for a few days. Not much to work with but strong low-end performance with the Operator / Ginxu combo, even in the 'holiest' of conditions. I will take it. Good spending some time on the water with Sam and Finn.

Rode all the gear today. Small board/small foil was a tough combo to start with. Retreated the to big board/big foil and still struggled a bit, amazing how efficient the small board is once you get it to the surface though.
Big board small foil to end the day felt pretty okay although still a big challenge.
