Day 2/3 at Nitinaht ' another beauty day! First time ever trying my 1000MA. Got up no problem but a bit squirrelly so I switched back to 1225MA after first hour. Rounded the island again and - BAM! - Tweezer appeared. This time with some gybe coaching, much appreciated!

Arrived in the afternoon, set up camp with Oz and Gene and headed out for the evening session on the big gear. Was lit right up and was wishing for the small stuff once beyond the epic wind shadow. Big Gear felt like shit as per usual but was fun dusting off some cobwerbs and taking in the atmosphere. Epic 300 m. Insta wind shadow swim at the end. Had to eventually turn the harness around backwards and lay on the board prone using the surf paddling muscles to bring me home.

I went out with biggest gear to join Idefix who was up and down off foil, just as BWD was ending his session. Not very promising. Not enough in the bay to get up. Farther out I got lucky with a gust and was able to get up for a while and intermittently after that. It was much too much work to stay foiling so I headed in, just as RDog was heading out. His commitment inspired me to try again and actually got a good half hour of fun powered foiling before I just ran out of gas from the earlier work.

Awesome start to three days at Nitinaht. First barefoot session ever. Lots of fun racing my kitesurfer sister Wendy and partner Adrian. Circumnavigated the island a la Tweezer, then was shocked when all the sudden Mark appeared out of nowhere to come say hi. Is this the Nitinaht magic people speak of? ULR also at the Nat ' I'd recognize the gold helmet anywhere. I think I improved on some of my stats for the BWD leaderboard today. Tomorrow: gybefest.

Up at 8am for coffee and Eggs, bacon and hash browns. Delicious!! On the water at Noon in 15kts, lasted an 2 hours and 40kms and then it ramped up so came in and grabbed lunch and sat and watched the rest for an hour then pumped up the 4.0m and headed out in strong conditions, that's the 20-25kts. It was wavy and windy, more 25 than 20. Really getting the hang of the Wing-Thing! Made it an hour without a crash. Finally had to call it a day at lifter 80kms as my hands were raw! wind not as good as it looked on cam, and too much kelp. Sucks to work hard pumping and just pop up to suddenly go over the handlebars. THe usual, close on gybes, front foot looked centred but not enough toe pressure to carve through downwind.Blisters from day before on top of toes from sand in water shoes got worse, reaLized open sores and a high coliform content were not good combo. Painful after my session, hunted down some polysporin cream.

A lot of waiting around for the forecast 'gale'. Struggled to get and stay foiling at first so I came in and waited a bit. Eventually saw the wing-sloggers blasting upwind nicely so went out for a more fun round two. Over powered at times on the 5.2 but feels better than struggling to find enough wind. Not overly exciting but nice to get out after being away and days of waiting for wind.

Last nights session went down at Magna Bay, Shuswap lake. I am visiting family and the wind dance I preformed the night before paid dividends! While everyone was scrambling to secure their boats and hid in protected bays, I got an epic hour long session. Had the gear set up from foiling behind the boat only a hour earlier. Stoked

I've learned that strong winds are more certain towards end of day here. Regardless, I wanted to get home before 8pm so pushed for a noon session after packing up camp. Winds were more civilized and that was cool too. I started trying to push myself on things I really suck at. Sam has inspired to push my pump and glide capabilities. Also just took this session to calm down and work on style and flow. Great three days. THE way to push your performance.

A crashfest for me today as I tried to ride my Starboard inflatable, first time in 6mos. Definitely some skill and muscle memory fade as I crashed often and needd to relearn how to ride that board again. There was wind, but it was fickle and I was glad to have the big 6.2m Mantis. No forgiveness on touch downs, unlike my big JP Aus. A touch of the water would often result in crash, whereas with the hardboard it would just skm off and keep you on foil. I am a bit disappointed, could not ride upwind as much as I wanted. Not sure if it was the wind or me. I have the feeling it was me' Need more time on the water with my surfboard. The wind was also kind of 'lumpy'. Not a consistent strength, a bit all over.

Pretty light so opted for the 60L and the airbus that is the 1201. So much glide I could break out a granola bar on the gybes. Felt like it picked up so switched to the 39L. Practiced heineken gybes a bit because I got bored with no swell. Good summer day with sunshine and peeps.
