Willows looked good and I had no WB time yet this summer, so I headed over for a nostalgia session. Gorgeous warm, shorty suit day with gusty winds as expected when from the west. Bigger winds beyond MTI, but I went big with my 6.2m Mantis to get through the holes so I stayed in the bay to save the stitching. Wonderfully weed free and I had the bay to myself except for a couple of anchored boats as jibe markers. Flat but gusty, but still ridiculously fun.

Gentle. Really wanted to wavesail South Chesterman, but there was next to no surf on offer. Went to Long Beach and sailed Incinerator Rock instead. Lots of water on a slack high of about 3.4 m. Wind was a touch lighter than yesterday so it was slog and ride this time. Started out below Incinerator Rock, but moved above and had the whole place to myself! Funny part was I caught one wave (a medium-sized clean south swell) that really had the shape and feel of a South Chesterman swell! Lots of hits, cle ... (more)

Weird being back on the long mast! Felt so stable and easy but not as carvey as the 795. Used the 180 tail with blue and red shims stacked. Liked how that felt! Super flat water for RB but no weeds and easy to spot kelp. Out with Dr Mark, Gus, Dan-o and some others showed up as I was leaving. Cruisey session and was OP'd at times.

Late session, wind appeared to get weaker. Wind was a bit spooky with some big holes in the middle of the lake. After two or three dip turns, started my carving session. Was able to maintain hight on my toe side, tacking upwind on my heel side. Overall a great evening session.

First time to launch wing at Acadia and glad I did! Launch 930 at bottom of stairs on gnarly boulder beach on outgoing tide. Tide was at Goldilocks depth to create awesome swell for almost two hours, then flattened out as the wind eased.

Stayed at Acadia and didn't venture around as the swell was so good. Sweet morning!

Pretty happy with a couple of mellow wonderful wednesday sessions after monster manic Monday. Still lots of benign rolly swell, just no 40kt wildness. My Big3 combo of big Board/Wing/Foil got me quickly up and foiling in the lightish winds. I tried to follow Bobson out to the sea lanes, but the winds felt to be diminishing, so I jibed back while I had the wind and missed out on keeping him company on the long slog back. With the light winds, I shortened sesh 2 and drone cammed Danno, Matt, and Bobson.

Soft pillows. Riley and Kevin wing boarded North Chesterman during a wind/surf check and the wind freshened. Then the call was made to head to Long Beach to join Jesse and one other. This was the right move. The other three sailed below and above Lovekin and I stayed higher launching from just below Incinerator Rock. Wind was on and there was some small playful swell. Long soft sluffing waves were on offer on the 3.3 m slack high tide with enough wind to position and catch target wave after wave! Sev ... (more)

It was an eventful day on the point. I arrived and parked in the hashed lines at the edge of the parking slots near the boathouse. I elected to pump up the 12m and went back to my truck to suit up. While I was doing that I saw a black dog come up to my kite, sniff it, and then proceed to take a long leak on it. Far away and half undressed, there was not much I could do about it so I finished suiting up and then walked up to the dog's owner and informed him of his dog's transgression. There was a half a ... Great session boosting with BrettT in the lee of Clover. A bit gusty and unstable and came unglued once, skipping across the water but managed to keep my arms and legs attached.

Arrived early and watched it increase to enough for the 5.2m. LET'S GOOOO!!! Took a minute to get it up and there was a solid line of wind off the point but out past the washing machine tide swirls there wasn't as much. When will I learn not to go out that far. My guess, never. Turned on the outside and had to slog back in past the washing machine. The Drunken Monkey was out first and foiling right away. Started similar to yesterday: things seemed a tad light, then some wind came in, a few foiling runs, then the wind died. BWD, Danno and I bobbed around for a bit, then the wind came back and fortunately stayed. I'd thought I'd be OP'd on my 7m, but it actually felt great for the whole session. Got a solid hour of foiling before I needed to pack up and get home for daddy duty. Lots of fun passes with Bobson, Danno, BWD, and Ang!

Settled for the 2nd executive parking spot, Bobson on the horizon doing his thing. Classic Ross bay in that it went from - 14 to 2 to 12 and back to 2. Had a short session on larger gear. Turns out with all the other (well documented) benefits of a DW board they paddle very nicely! Back at shore The Pope and Dr Mark were prepping to head out, in the 'fast' approaching wind line. The Pope ripped out looking very confident, but then had a longish paddle in ' Ross Bay initiation? Felt bad that I was not ... (more)

Late going' forgot to close my dry suite' dummy. Was wet in a dry suit. Picked the wrong size kite with the surfboard. Should have used an 11m kite, maybe even my 10m. It was not my best session. Kiting on a surfboard is a brand new adventure. It is different than a twin tip. Need to let the fins do the work, not the edge. Did not get upwind as much as I wanted, but with the wind strength we had, I should have been able to get upwind much better. Also, my jibs sucked. Put too much weight on the back onc ... (more)

Ran into Bobson on the ride home from work and was inspired to return for post-dinner session. Arrived a few hours later to Bobson packing up, and Rupert & DocMark eagerly awaiting a fresh wind line that was approaching. Rupert launched and made it look easy so I rigged my big wing to join the fun. A few foiling runs then wiped out on a gybe attempt right into the Clover Point washing machine ... aaaaaand then the wind shut down. It was a slow sail/swim/paddle back in, but at least it was a nice nig ... (more)

Took a quick peak at the Webcam and saw some wind so decided to go even though the forecast was less than stunning. Arrived at 4:15pm to 10-12kts on inside and maybe 15ish outside. Rigged up quick, had a quick chat with The Pope about his Toeside then hit the water. Amazing view towards the Sooke mountains and there was a large plume of smoke and a big what looked like, water bomber. The wind was good to begin with meaning 12-15kts on the outside. Headed down to Trial and came off the foil and it was a bit ... (more)
