Rigged the 3.7 as it looked that early in the day. Made it work, but should have been on the 4.2. Broke a harness line, fortunately on a full plane heading back to the Washington side when that happened, and I had a spare set with me.

On my favourite setup (DW board, MA1000 and 4.0) headed up to the point. After 5 quick take downs headed back to 'mid-bay' where the swell was sweeet and fairly organized. Tried some fast toe side tacks and had plenty of good swell rides. Debrief with BWD and blessings from The Pope. Good times!

Arrived to see two swimming in and Shaggy swimming out, so started to mentally prepare for rigging the giant 4.5. By the time I chatted with RBlocal the wind had filled in enough for the 3.5, thank god. Fun small waves at first with light wind. Then the wind steadied and the swell got L on the outside. Super fun. Crazy glare coming in and nervous about running over someone and wrecking my foil. It also seems the kelp has figured out that the best way of attack is to separate into random blobs all over the b ... (more)

Great swell with the SW wind. Light at first but then it picked up so tried out the Omen Flux 48L. After each kelp takedown and falls struggled to get up. 48L is too small for me. Switched back to the Dragonfly and rigged down to 3.5 for some killer swell rides. Should have been on my smaller glider but didn't want to waste time and waves to come in again.

Good session. Plenty of power with my 5.5m and I kept thinking I should probably rig my 4m. The waves seemed to get quite a bit bigger by 630pm. More gybe practice and I tried to spend more time reaching down towards Hollywood Cres rather than staying upwind near Clover Pt. Felt a bit rusty since I haven't been getting out as much in July!

Early shift was marginal. I had to get out halfway to Trial Is to get on foil. Luckily, the winds increased. Great to share the swells with Greg in the early shift. Took a break after about an hour to switch gopro batteries and the winds died leaving the foilers with a long swim back. I was ready to call it a day but the winds returned and I went back out for another well powered hour with my smaller 6m with Paul and others. My twisty Drunken Monkey foiling method paid off in the kelp slalom runs. Summer fo ... (more)

You just can't tell when you are going to score. Awesome session although that is the record for being taken to zero by kelp. So much kelp. It was like running a border out by the "band." Also a bunch of stealth weed floating under the water line closer in the bay. Regardless, I was pretty much expecting to be underwhelmed by conditions and the opposite happened. Solid and consistent wind, slightly more offshore, with great swell. One of my best sessions this summer.

Best sailing was from 5:30Am -10am but the UW model was accurate & I Sailed 11kt from 11 -12 noon on a 7.5m happily slogging north. Could not lie the Hammond Bay S. entry so I turned & headed back. Dawn patrol is still my plan.
I have no idea where todays east swell came from . But My theory on Sunday's extended 15 knots untill 1:30pm was an enhanced thermal affect caused by the Harmac Hog furl fire.

Probably my last session in Vic for a while and managed to enjoy a foil and a swim when the wind died. It was a weird wind with it coming up and then lulling. Still lots of kelp in the water which lead to some nice faceplants off the foil.

Fog and cool morning set it up for big wind Sunday. Went out on the 3m for about 15 minutes and decided I should give the 2.5m try, never thought I'd be using that at nitty! What a fantastic stretch of 9 sunny, hot, windy, fun fun fun filled days and nights, I'm exhausted. Tweezer and I played chase the tail. Was joined at the fire by Jon who's up for a bit now. Heading home tomorrow, then back up for another 10 days as of July 27. Woohoo!

First day trip to the lake.. all the usual suspects around! Fun session to start on the 10m before it dropped slightly.. everyone said saturday was epic but I thought the conditions were pretty good.. gusty is good, waves are good.. looping the 10 is nice but I was loading up my kite so much it was pretty flexy during some loops.. great session and road wasnt too terrible..

Pretty light with wingers slogging and swimming when I arrived. DW board saved the day. Real nice defined swell wrapping around Clover and into the bay. Wind up and down. Sat on my board a couple times in lulls waiting it out but wind always came back. Solo last hour. Out of the water at 9.

Looked ok when i arrived mounted the spitfire, turned around and the wind had died so changed out to the 1150 . Barely enough to foil but some nice small rolling swell at the point . Had a short 1 hour session with lots of pumping then the wind just shut off completely so beelined for shore and pumped as long as i could swam in the last 50 feet. The wind came back some as i was packing up enticing others to go out. Hopefully Tugboat got some as he was rigged , packed up and then rigged again.

Short but sweet sunset session. Went out with no one up on foil with a confidence rooted in the low power goodness of my 6.2m Mantis. It did not disappoint. With a bit of work and waiting for gusts, soon I was able to stay on foil for long periods. Fun to share the swells with Paul, JohnL, and a DW board foiler. The winds increased in the second half of the session bringing the best swell play and powered carving. Warm air temp, sun, and minimal kelp issues. Might have gotten one kelp takedown, or it was ju ... (more)

Tried out the 2024 Rebel 9m. It was a great experience. The kite is powerful, easy to handle and has a stable feeling.
Great day/evening, had a great run up to the upper beach, practicing my heel to toe jibs and toe side riding.
Great fun.

Quite steady winds by Pipers standards till 1:30pm Lagoon Thermals and the outside Winds combined nicely to make good upwind downwind sailing from the North to South ends of the park. Sailing cut short by boom contraction problems that I fixed & then the wind died.
At the end of the day the head count was 3 hand kiters, one Windsurfer, nine Canada Geese and 25 boats fishing and calm winds & warm torquoise water.

Day 2 of 2 was already windy by 9:00am foreshadowing the rest of the day. Rallied Ingrid to her lesson but talking it through with her instructor, decided that discretion is the better part of valor and took a pass on lessons for the day. Managed to convince Erika to suit up also and girls had fun time lazy river drifting.
Went out on the 4.0 and was lit up. Overpowered on a wing isn't as violent as with windsurfing but definitely had the wing fluttering in some of the gusts. Decided to put in the ext ... (more)

Another day at the Hatch...gusty and up and down all morning but with decent swell. Day of much rerigging. Got fooled into rigging the 3.4 after getting worked in some big gusts and swell on the 4.0, but didn't last.
