Windsurf Rig

Post by Windsurfer1202 »

Hello,

Ive been windsurfing for a little while now. Uphaul only. Im looking into smaller boards/sails in higher winds. I’m 90 kgs, have no clue how to water start or gybe. I was hoping to start with one board and one sail.

I was wondering if someone could recommend a rig (board/sail) that I wouldn’t grow out of too quickly. My first thoughts were 125L/7.8m. Any info on what you get the most use out of would be great.

I was also wondering if there are any lessons on the island or safe spots to practice.

Cheers

I currently live in Nanaimo. I don’t mind driving though.

I mainly used a really old hi-fly probably 190 Liters with a 8.6m or 9.8m on Lake Ontario. I’d usually go out between 8-15 knots.

Any help would be great. Thanks.

Pipers Lagoon works well in the summer. Stay inside the lighthouse and you won't get in too much trouble.
Probably you want a 6.5 or so.
