Kiter or windsurfer? How experienced? For newbie kiters, I think the pickings are slim - Island view on light-moderate SE through NE. Esquimalt Lagoon spit can work in S to SW, but that wind direction is rare and beware the wind usually clocks round to W then gets very gusty as its coming over the land and down a big hill, Hindenberg time. Is Comox spit a better bet if you don't mind the drive? Great wind, sheltered water.
Windsurfers have more options around Victoria, for newbies Island View is good to about 20 knots, if the tide isn't floating the logs, Willows Beach also good and probably the safest, Agate Beach works sometimes, as does Pat Bay on a big westerly.

thanks for the tips.
I'm a german windsurfer, and my experience are from the baltic and northern sea. our season is starting in september. and the best time are from oktober till april. If we had a long weekend, such as this one, we met us on our sweet spot, rode hot finn's, drunk beer or wine and sat on campfire.......
How is it here in old good canada?

welcome to Canada, there are several spots around Victoria for ocean sailing, willows, cook, gordons and up island there is columbia beach and comox spit. Just watch for the right forecast. Nothing but bears having picnics at nitinat.

we try to avoid sitting on the campfire around here, some kiters have been known to do this the odd night, but just the same, I like hot finns, especially if she's a long legged blonde

Lateriser, yes people drive to wind. You can see the pattern from the 'group log' statistic in the sailing log. You can also spy on anyone to see what their stats are by clicking on their name in the sailing log.

Columbia Beach will soon the destination of choice for lots of wind and descent waves.
