Harbour Quay Port Alberni - cam and wind sensor
On the webcam the wind is blowing hard from the west this afternoon, but your display for the wind measurement continually reads East. I'm confused.

I think the orientation of the inlet is more South to North, so South=inflow and North=outflow.
From the flags in the the webcam right now it looks like there are bent a bit from the E, so from looking I would guess the wind right now is from the SSE. Yes straight E is a bit strange - I adjusted the angle a bit so now it reads SE.

I was just looking in more detail at the orientation of the harbour in that stretch too and thinking ah this is why he calls the newbies kook. I may have asked a dumb question.
I can definitely see the southerly rather than west. West doesn't make sense either. It could be channeled along the higher elevation land to a SE direction at that particular point, but I suspect most of the harbour is getting southerly.
