Started on the small board, used a fair amount of energy to get out to the wind, once I was up and foiling quickly had a kelp hit. Wind dropped, headed in for the trusty DW board. Spotted a sea lion had a few more kelp hits. Will be wearing boots and gloves next time out. Great afternoon!

Launched with Gus, RobC and Paul around 230pm in summery conditions -- no gloves needed! Started light but after 20 min the wind picked up quite a bit and I came in to swap my 1475 front wing for the 1225. Was regretting not bringing my 4m but the wind soon dropped so I was happy I stayed on the 5.5. Had front row seats for a Tunacan kelp jump, a few Tweezer 360s, jostled with Bobson for camera time off H-Rockers stern, and buzzed AlexB a few times to check out his longer and longer foiling runs! What a lovely day! Bluebird sky and descent westerly winds greeted my arrival. It was quite busy on the point and I had to vulture park between setting up gear and putting on my wetsuit. There were 3 or 4 kites out when I self-launched, the tide was high and the beach was full of everything that the ocean could puke up ( I saw a Kinder egg and some shoes :-0). The area right by the ramp on the windward side was too gnarly for me so I tip-toed along the beach and made a start further upwind. The ocean was ... (more)

Parked behind RuppDog and he got me all amped up, as it looked windy. I decided on the 3.5 and a borrowed the surf 205 tail to go with the MA1225. Wind dropped off and the 3.5 was suddenly way to small. Switched up to the 5m (with run over valve in place) and headed back out nicely powered when the gusts came. Swell seemed few and far between for me, and i wasn't feeling the most energized, so kind of cruised around. Found a decent kelp patch to jump over a couple times which was upped the entertainment lev ... (more)

I forgot that I used the 103cm foil mast today and the G800(1173cm2) foil. It took a bit of time to get used to being able to fly so high without breaching with the 103 mast. As well it is heavier than my usual 82cm mast. The length sure helped out jibing outside in the swell. No issues with kelp either. The downside is that it doesn't fit in my manvan when attached to my board. The 1173cm2 foil is a bit quicker and turny'er than the PTM926(1263cm2) but not that much different. I think that I need something ... (more)

Great late day session to round out the weekend! OP'd on the 4m for much of it and some excellent swell to play in. Tide must have changed or something as that swell really seemed to suddenly flatten out near the end for some reason. Quite a parade of large logs at one point but otherwise clean enough water to not have any pitchpoles despite some last second turns. Almost took out Til on one of them! Whoops! Really starting to get the new AFS 900 Enduro dialed in. Felt great all around. Will try the shorter ... (more)

Still, improving on getting going, stowing, and redeploying. It's not easy! Upwind ability is now similar to a wing, which is fantastic. The stock bridle config didn't go upwind nearly as well as the new config. Had to deal with a couple of tangles caused by crashing, but surprisingly, the parawing "wants" to untangle itself with a bit of prompting and line ... (more)

Got out too late at 5:15pm. 4 Wingers had fun earlier in the afternoon & most were ashore (Dan, Fraser & Joseph). 5pm wind at Entrance was 20 knots but had shifted westward throwing a big wind shadow on the lagoon area.

Result was 20 minutes of sailing, 10 Minutes of floundering and finally being becalmed, 30 minutes of paddling to shore with rig in tow tied to transom. First time I can remember paddling a shortboard ashore at the Pipers launch. 2 Wingers also had to paddle ashore from much fu ... (more)

Evening power hour session. Pretty crowded but easy to find space and swell. Some stealth kelp hiding around, but the high tide seemed to help keep the larger clumps down low. Fun to be on the 3.5 with some powerful gusts to boost some airs with in-between some swell slides!

Great day at Pipers. Fairly flat to start but as the afternoon went on the waves got better and better. Around 330 the sun came out and the waves built for an amazing 45 minutes where Idefix and I sailed just upwind and outside of the fingers in champagne conditions before it slowly started to fade. Made it in just as the wind was dropping and watched a few others not quite make it and needing to do the walk of shame. The 940 just glides forever, super happy with it. Thanks for the post session refreshment ... (more)

GMAC and Le Twizz were first ones out. I made it 40 mins and then had to pull the shute as I had dinner plans. As I was packing up, Goat Hill was filling up. Missed the best winds arriving at Noon. The RC sail fleet racing at Wheatcroft Pk in the Lagoon had the best overall conditions imo. Rigged & ready by 2pm. A lull between fronts delayed launching till 3pm. 2pm Reading at Entrance was 18knots but it didn't fill in. Also Harmac was running near full tilt and bright skies over Nanaimo may of been the result of heat from the mill. Which likely reduced the wind field strength of fronts as they passed over Newcastle Isl. Overall Not much rain & ... (more)

Smoothies. Less wind, more wind swell (on the outside) today. Started out looking a little hollow, but there was enough wind to make 4.5/92 work right from the start. There were moments of too light, too much, and just right (and a few big lulls too) but there was wind for most of the day. Water provided some nice ramps on the inside (saw Gleb working on his push loops) and some nice smoothies on the outside! One party wave with Gleb that was super fun! First time on my 62 litre Quatro Drifter! (Yesterday didn't count!) Compact shape very sensitive to input, wish I was as sensitive in my output. Still able to pull off a knee start with difficulty in the wave zone, me being 77kg dry weight. Nice session despite some rain! I hardy saw any floating weeds but the ones I saw were stuck on my foil. Lots of practice knee starting after clearing the foil. Some big swell and breaking waves.

Good morning of foiling action. Woke up early to watch the Kiwi's win the Americas Cup again and then got out for a foil myself! Weirdly the Yarrow Point weather mark was showing 12-16 all early morning so I headed down to the local spot just before 8 and headed out. Got a great hour in on the 950 paired with the 370. Not sure why there wasn't much wind yesterday afternoon here when it was blowing 25 in Victoria but there was this morning when there isn't much wind in Victoria, strange.
