Small board/small foil proved a challenge. Once I got the feeling it was pretty awesome. Have to tone my inputs way down.

Pipers Classic!
Green forecast on both models with 20 kts on the early report for Entrance Island. Game On! Light start on the 5.0 for five minutes and back in for the 4m. No need to venture too far out today, good intensity and clean swell lines just outside of Clark Rk. Another sail change to 3m for peak conditions early afternoon. Local and South Island smiles mixing it up :))

Road trip to Pipers! Danno, Tweez, ULR and notorious D.O.G. all ripping it up! Pretty light to start, ramped up around noon so headed in for a snack and my 3.0, great swells and no kelp tie downs!

1st Piper's trip this year! Looked iffy on the cam at 8am, but model showed it coming in around 11 so went for it and was rewarded with 4m wind upon arrival! Tweezer, RupDog and Idefix(dan) already wanging around outside, Tweezlet Owen and his bud Mitch were giving it a go too. Met Dog's (RichardM) sister in parking lot, she's a winger!, she's nice!! and she's much more pleasant and sociable!!! than Dog :) Lots of fun in warm tropics of Nannyamooo, some pretty nice swell and bonus large sailboats running ... Checked cam at noon at work and it looked great! Dashed off, grabbed gear, tried to find a way through the construction, and got to the good end of Goat Hill to find the wind had lightened off. Had a 2:30 meeting so launched anyway, foiled off the beach but then was taken down 3 or 4 times by kelp getting out. Had a few runs, Robin begging for a tow in was a sign that it was sub-optimal. Good practice to pump flagged out on the small chop. Foiled through the kelp bed keeping really high on the foil and ... (more)

Looked doable on the cam about 11:30 so headed on down to the bay. Very flat and light, half dozen(ish) of us thinking it's sunny, Friday, and sorta windy... go for it! BWD, RupDog, pope's_nose, mitch, Paul, GregCan, et al. It was sunny funny cruisey weather. Sailed up to Cook St to see how the wind was on the other side, it wasn't. Continued to cruise around in the afternoon sun, getting very light and thought about going in but went for one more run too many! The big schlog in and the short 20m fr ... (more)

Gorgeous sunny day with light but steady breeze and flat water! Things were looking dismal when I arrived: only Rupert on the water but making his way back to shore due to lack of wind. I felt optimistic so I rigged all the big gear. As soon as I did the breeze started filling in, so I launched and was foiling right off the beach. Rupert relaunched and it was just the two of us for about an hour -- big time deja vu of our romantic sunset/moon session just a few weeks ago. Paul and DrMark joined, but sa ... (more)

Great waves, swell, runs on 4.7 thinking it would build, died off, lotsa tries/van sitting/foil watching, came back working 5.0/94l. Didn't really rip til last hour, sm/med waves, stupidly held 4.7 where 3.7/4.2 was the call. Popped a huge backie to stratosphere badly op, 1/2 ejected & busted foot pretty good :/ great opener!

Columbia came through! I arrived around 11:30 to barely 10 knots on the beach. Whitecaps were visible on the outside. Smartang was out first on a 5m wing looking good. It kicked up a notch or 2 and everyone was on it. Half a dozen each of windsurfers and wings and Sean who made the day trip from the north shore was the solo kiter. Waves were good to start and then got a little mushy, then they kicked back in. Wind also sagged for a bit but held for the foils. Fun laps! Looked like the best was after I came ... (more)

Launch at 11am and riding foil. Come floating back to beach by 12 after it died. Tried the 6m and 1350cm2 foil for a second attempt but disappointment was the theme of the day. Weeds were an issue as well as the lack of wind.

Rain was persistent, so ended up having multiple pints in a certain pub. Cleared and wind seemed to pickup. Upon freeing myself of all the kelp (finally showed up) URL yelled at me to slow down, so i yelled at him to speed up - classic url. I did do a drag race with Puff Daddy who was down in our wing zone for some reason. Felt like I was keeping up at first, but those kites have a few more gears.

Early morning session- but with the gale forecast ( 40plus) thought I should get out while I could.
Was the right decision- was the opposite of normal, as strong wind came in well before swell built, so had a little of both.
Of course when it did quickly build to 25 or so, was starting to question the sanity of the situation;-)

Launched a 9m as it ramped up but it quickly dropped off once I got on the water.. FFS.. waited 10mins and a a few gusts came back to line them up with the surfboard.. then it finally filled in but not like the forecast.. underpowered to start but it was nice on the outside slashing a few waves! some steep sloppy stuff with the ebb but always fun off Clover.. so many new faces there all the time.. its not funny watching people wash up in Ross Bay..

Not quite as forecast. Got there early and hung out. AJ on it early, then Paul, then some puffs, some foiling happening, then the crowds were out. 4m to start, then a blip, then 5m until too dusky to see the kelp huskies

Got there a bit early and had a long wait for the wind. Nice to get out eventually but conditions were kind of meh with not much swell and lots of kelp and misc bits in the water. Lots of wings and kites. Happy to not be run over by Tunacan and Tweezer was out dazzling the crowd with his reverse cowgirl gybes.

Watched the RB cam for most of the afternoon and finally spied the wind coming in late in the day. Headed down to a group that was mostly schlogging, but wind was threatening off in the distance to come in. Rigged big to hedge my bets and was apparently the correct call as it never really amped up. Pretty tame conditions, lots of loose kelp, some kelp rafts, and sticks/wood bobbing about. Beautiful sunset cruise. Pretty good crowd about 15ish. Tweezer doing stunts (behind back handle pass gybes), Tuna goin ... (more)

Waited for it to finally kick in.. but that was short lived! Thought it would ramp up then settle but it dropped like a rock to eventually come back.. 10m was under powered most of the first 45 mins but the Duke was ripping some surf in the end.!! Never really turned me on

First session on a 75L board. Some frustrating moments as expected, but overall I was pretty happy with the short maiden voyage. The wind was 20+ knots to start, and after a few attempts at getting up I got on foil and really enjoyed the responsiveness of the new board -- 8" less width makes a huge difference! The wind started dropping after about 20 min, I became underpowered with my 4m, and this made getting up quite challenging. I came in for my 5.5m, but the wind dropped even more and with the ... Got there early for the forecast but had to wait until 4 before the sky out West started clearing. Went out to slog and did a few bitch hitches on the outside of the kelp forest. Fell in once and immediate double pink eye.
Finally paid off to slog way out the windline and I brought it back into the bay. You're welcome.
A bit rusty. Gybes got worse as time went on and somehow several flyouts despite my super long 105 mast.
Wind got a bit flukey so went in, luckily foiled through the kelp wall and rig ... (more)

Tried mega foil, 2000, rigged 4.7 flat. Foiling @will, couldda used 4.2
Uphauling bit better today, despite almost same waves. Trouble initiating gybes & heading downwind, burrowing rail too much, tiring for sure! Didn't last long. Steadier in the air but waves constantly slapping the board w/70 mast. Good crew out
