Arrived at Noon and watched not much wind for 15 mins then Rupp-Dogg showed up to chat and watch the lack of wind with me. We decided we could foil in the gusts but they were few and far between. He left and I went for a drive down to McNeil Bay, still not much wind. Drove back and hoped for more. Well, I got my wish....sorta. I decided it was time to Fish or Cut Bait so decided the 10kt gusts were more common now and the lulls were fewer so rigged up a big fat 7.0m Flyer. Still only have an 800cm2 front foil as I'm waiting for an 1100cm2 which hopefully comes soon. Anyways, out for almost an hour and got over 20kms coming off the foil only a couple of times but having to pump harder than a whore on Payday. It was 8-10kts for first 20 mins then got a bit stronger so the gusts were maybe 12kts. A few sailboat going by slowly and a couple of kids in lasers out. I pretty much just mowed the lawn as there wasn't enough wind to really go anywhere else. I had to look for gusts to gybe during and even had to pump to get through some lulls but it was a good workout. The wind started to get lighter and I was having to pump more and more so decided to Cut Bait and call it a day and picked a good gust as I was able to foil right in to the boat launch which always feels good. After packing up as I was driving away it looked like it was less than 5kts. Good timing!! Hopefully a good warmup for tomorrow Gale Warning. 151st session of the year which is more than I've ever done. 149 last year and 150 the year before.
